As a child, I was given a flower press, and I savoured each and every sheet of tissue paper that it provided to make delicate creations. So last weekend after collecting a ton of gorgeous wildflowers, oh and admittedly some neighbour’s prized flowers, I thought of how great it would to press a few. After a brief search on the internet, I came upon instructions to make pressed flower stationary, and I went to work.
The items required, other than the flowers to be featured, are a heavy book, newspaper, white spray paint, colourful card stock, scissors, glue, a paintbrush, and a yard of half inch wide ribbon. Simply start by pressing the flowers on top of a section of newspaper and under the heavy book overnight. Upon uncovering the flowers lightly spray with the white spray paint and allow to dry. Paint a descent amount of watered down glue onto the area where the flowers are to be affixed. Next, decorate the edge of the card with the ribbon and full strength glue. I was very pleased with my very first attempt, and will plan to repeat this activity many times.
